“Should I stay or should I go?” has been on the tongues of every Hong Kong local.

Do we still have our shelter, or has it been demolished?

A 19-minute narrative short exploring the anatomy of departure and the spaces we cling to for safety. Through the lens of an analogue photographer and a woman on the precipice of migration, The Shelter captures a collective Hong Kong crossroads.

Framed by the literal demolition of the city's old corners and the isolation of the darkroom, the film recontextualises the daily act of holding onto memory, asking whether a transient generation can ever truly find a permanent home.
